Gwen was my tax lady for many years and I was happy and satisfied with her service in the past. However, over the last few years she seemed to be overwhelmed with her clients, to the point where she told me she didnt have time for an in-person consultation for me last year. She did meet my friend with a simple return whom I referred to her in person, and spent an hour with small talk, which was very disappointing to hear, after turning an old and loyal client down for an in person appointment, especially when the case is a little more complex. My situation became too challenging for her when my previously simple tax return simple w2single, head of household was complicated by a wildfire damage to my property and an Airbnb business I started. I inquired about tax write offs for this, she basically turned down all input from me and told me I wasnt able to write off the things that are legitimate write offs, as I have later found out using someone else the following year. Turned out I was right and was able to write off a lot of expenses she declined to include. All in all, she was great for many years, but I think she is too overwhelmed now which lead to the departure of at least one long term client, and I also think she isnt well-versed in rental related tax questions.
