Dennis O'Connor

Born and raised in San Diego, Dennis spent most of his beginning years in San Diego's eclectic North Park area. He started his tax preparation days at the age of 16, filing returns for his family and and friends. His love for accounting followed him to college, where he started preparing his roommates tax returns to make some extra money. He graduated with a degree in business/economics with an emphasis in accounting from University of California Santa Barbara. Post college, Dennis started working at one of San Diego's largest private CPA firms, Considine & Considine. Dennis adventurous nature led him to leave the company and travel. Over the course of three years, Dennis visited more than 20 countries, even making the drive from San Diego to Costa Rica over a 5 month period. Every year, Dennis made a point to make it back home for tax season. Though at some point, the need to put down roots helped Dennis take on tax accounting full-time. In 2004, he found an office suite in Mission Hills and founded San Diego Taxman. The office has since moved to North Park above Thorn St. Brewery, another venture of his. San Diego Taxman has a unique approach to client care. This unique tax accounting firm, has clients ranging from local business owners, bar tenders, hair stylists, students and nurses to NFL coaches, athletes, and cage fighters to name a few. Dennis takes great pride in his ability to put a personal touch on his exceptional tax preparation services. It's not uncommon for him to e-mail clients regarding breaking tax law changing or personal financial advice. He is always looking to help his clients make the tax preparation process as painless and rewarding as possible. Dennis brings an energy and enthusiasm not common in the tax world, getting rid of the "daunting taxman" image many people have of accountants in the industry. Dennis's speaks in simple layman's terms, a unique skill that he shares with his clients and that has made him a sought-after expert. For Dennis, the biggest reward of his job is having satisfied clients who leave his office with less weight on their shoulders than when they walked in. A true local San Diegan, Dennis spends his extra time surfing and flying planes out of Montgomery Field (yes he has a pilot's license too). He trains in mixed martial arts. and is a huge ultimate fighting fan, traveling across the country to support clients and friends in their events. Even with his fast-paced life, Dennis still finds time to volunteer with his local charities.
